Hell, if you try booting from a USB thumb drive on a public PC that could be considered illegal.Ī much simpler solution is to just stick Windows apps on the thumb drive. Typically most people aren't going to want you to muck about with their PC rebooting it and running alternate OSs, and of course this is going to be slow switching OSs and since USB itself it usually slower than internal media the OS might not feel terribly snappy, though using something lightweight like Puppy Linux that probably isn't a problem anyway. While this is a way to make a USB stick with emulators on them, it's not likely what OP wants. When booting from a machine, you will need to disable the lock on live booting in the bios of the motherboard and allow booting from CD and USB sticks, I forget what it is called exactly, but you will need to do this with every pc you want to live boot from, it takes two minutes to disable. Now you have a usb stick with linux that you can plug into any pc and play some emulators from. Boot puppy arcade Linux, put some roms on it, configure the emulators to your licking. Get puppy arcade linux, get a usb stick, flash the usb stick so you can put Puppy arcade linux on it. I'm not entirely sure how you would get it working, but I think it's possible to have it on a usb key and live boot it from that.Įdit: I did put some thought into it.

You probably could put some roms on it, and live boot it to play games on other people's pc, without installing anything at all. I forgot what it was called, there was a version of puppy Linux with emulators already on it, Puppy linux is a lightweight linux distro.
